 Announced Monday 6/21---- the 2010 Minors Division season has ended and there will NOT be a Tournement this year due to 8 inches of rain this month and teeball, coach pitch and majors needing the fields for the next 2 weeks to salvage at least a few games before the districts start up in July.

Our team Banquet will be at Happy Joes in Rock Island at 6pm on Wed. June 30th

Since the league will not be providing city tourney trophy's or medals this year -- I have ordered a really nice trophy for each player and will be acknowledging them 1 by 1 with a certificate and thier individual trophy at the team banquet, please plan on attending - it is very important to each player!

I will need to collect the trophy cost from each parent which is $25.00 (includes all shipping and Individual Name / Position plate engraved)

Team family pictures / Trophy money collection / Raffle money collection - - - - Monday June 28 6pm OHM

Please plan on meeting at Old Horace Mann field on Monday June 28 at 6pm (PLAYERS IN FULL UNIFORMS FOR 1 LAST TIME!) for family team pictures and trophy money drop off of $25.00 - -you can either make a check out to "Trophy World" or pay me directly -- either way is fine but we do need to pick up the order on Tues by 10am, so its very important that you are there on Monday at 6pm at Old Horrace Mann Field for family pictures also collecting raffle money from each player and / or any tickets that you did not sell.

Please call me directly if you will not be there on Monday at 6pm - or to make special arrangments for money pick up or if there are any issues what so ever.

Again congrats to everyone involved at any level with the team,  on a incredible undefeated 2010 season!

 The official word is that there will be no make up games and Fernandez Painting has finished the regular season undefeated at 14-0 so congrats to everyone involved at all levels---this is a great accomplishment and should be remembered for a long time to come by the Players, Families and Coaches!

 Have not heard either way if our season is over or not................

 I do have messages into the league president and will let you know if I hear anything about rescheduled games, City Tourney or end of season dates.

My guess is that due to all of the rain and the approaching District All Star's Tourney, we may be finished for the season as we are the lucky ones who started in April and got 14 out of 18 games in before the monsoon hit us but I hope not - - -it just feels as if we are not finished just yet, with what we have started!!!!

Coach Pitch, T Ball and Majors are having problems getting games in at all and some teams havent even had 5 games yet - -so  we may have punched our ticket and be finished for the year, but I will let you know as I get any news.

I have started plans on our Team Bqt anyway and will pass that news on when its finished and when we find out about any remaining games!

Game Canceled Tuesday May 25 due to inclement weather!

 Report time for all players is 5pm in EAST MOLINE.

This game starts at 5:30pm sharp and they insist on starting on time due to later scheduled games.

Please let one of the coaches know if your player is going to be late and what time to expect them as our rosters have to be turned in before 5:30pm.

I will be coaching a much needed batting practice tonight for anyone available.

Parent must be present for player to enter batting cages.

$1.00 = 15 pitches (35mph or 45mph)

 Friday - May 21 5pm ----------Milan Field----------prior to 5:45pm game.

Company is concerned about bad weather and has rescheduled the entire league for next week.

 As of 7am, today's game in Silvis is on as scheduled.

Good luck to all players, coaches and parents as Alec and I will be out of town until Sunday evening.

Prior to each game we have scheduled 30 minutes for team warm ups, batting practice, defense drills, roster adjusting and team meeting.

It is very important for your player to be on time for each game and ready to contribute at the scheduled report times.

This has become even more important this year, as we have very limited practice times in this league.

Thursday's game ( 4/29 ) -  report time is 5:15 at Milan West - which is near the concession stands............... This is NOT the field that we practiced on earlier this year.

We are the home team and will be in the dug out  which is closest to the concession stand.

Coach Chad, Mike and Amy will be doing warm-ups, swing practice (30 each), defense drills (we only get 10 minutes and thats if we hurry) and Roster adjustments for Thursday's 4/29 game as I have a meeting at work and am not expecting to be in Milan until 5:30.

 Coaches - my wife (Teri) will be there Thursday at 5pm with Alec, all Equipment and the line up for the night.

 Game 3 -vs Orion Monday 4/26 - - Directions!

Today's practice has been canceled due to poor field conditions at Douglas and more expected bad weather!

WE HAVE SCHEDULED A BATTING PRACTICE AT MICHEALS FUN WORLD IN DAVENPORT  TOMMORROW AT 4PM - SUNDAY 4/25

PLEASE PLAN ON YOUR PLAYER ATTENDING AS WE WILL BE WORKING IN THE 55 MPH AND 70 MPH CAGES!

ANYONE THAT NEEDS 35 MPH WORK WILL ALSO BE WORKING IN THAT CAGE UNTIL 8 OUT OF 15 BALLS ARE HIT!

Parent must be present for child to enter cage. cost is $1.00 per 15 pitches.

Great solid team effort in game 1! Congrats to the players and parents - very impressive to see an 11-0 lead at the top of the 5th and an overall 15-5 with all of our players getting plenty of key position time!

We will continue to rotate all players into key positions when ever possible, thanks again for your support!

We are the home team and the concession assignments for parents is Sarah Thayer, Jennifer Clark and Danita Dehaven, these are our team parents and i believe we had 1 more volunteer (please come forward --- I diidnt wroite it down and cant remmeber who it was)! These parents are assigned tonight because all season one or more of them will be helping you get opened and running when you are assigned to concessions!

Our uniforms have come in and will passed out AFTER Saturday's 10am practice at Douglas.

Fernandez Painting Team Colors are:

Red Socks, White Pants, Red Belt  ---(These items are parents responsability)

Ash Shirt - (red lettering), Black Hat (red bill, white lettering)  ---(These items are supplied by league)

Last Name on back of Shirt - in red - -approx. $6.00 at Sports Depot in Rock Island (they have wierd hours so call first) 

Socks, pants and belt can be purchased at just about any sporting goods speciality store or Walmart, Kmart, Target etc.....

Please be in porper team uniform at Tuesday's 1st game, call me if there is any issues.

No word on uniform drop off yet - -I will keep everyone posted as they become available and your player will get thier uniform and matching pant, belt and swock info asap!

2010 Baseball Season is finally here!

A few quick notes:?

practice Tuesday 3/30 OHM - as long as we have good weather along with safe and dry fields! - we have 4 practices schedules - please click the "Schedules" icon above.

If not, Coaches will post all schedule, practice and game cancelations here all season - first !

So please check here prior to any phone calls - if its not here in the "Headlines" then its not canceled.

 As we move forward with the season - anything that is scheduled for our team will be posted here in the "Schedules" icon area.

We should have 12- practices prior to our 1st game and close to 25 games this season, pitching machines will be available to us at OHM and Milan.

Our Team Rules for players and parents:

1) If you dont come to practices (and be on time) - you can not expect to start.

2) We are here to have fun and that takes priorty over everything else.

3) We are a team and are expected to behave like a team at all times on and off the field.

4) The following skills will be focused on - for the entire 3 months we are together as a team: Heavy Conditioning, Strength Building, Foot Speed, Coordination, Fundamental Ball Handling, Fundamental Defensive Skills, Proper Batting Technique and  Aggressive Base Running Skills.

5) If your grades arent there - - then neither is your baseball glove! Parents please enforce this strictly at  your discretion through out the rest of the school year.

6) All players are expected to try their hardest and do their very best while at all practices and games - we dont care if you make mistakes, we dont even care how many mistakes you make, but we do care if your not learning or not trying to give it your best at all times that you step on to the field - we will give you the tools to get even better than you are now - but its up to each player to decide to want to get better and then put it out there on the field - every chance they get.

7) All parents are expected to contribute their time in the concession area when they are scheduled to do so in the rotation. It will be posted on this web site, next to the schedule as soon as I receive the game schedule from the league office.

8) All parents will be responsible for providing team snacks when they are scheduled to do so in the rotation. It will also be posted next to the game schedule as soon as I receive it. ------- We have 12 players on the team.

9) All players and parents are expected to cheer loudly and often and uphold good sportsmanship at all times with all teammates, all fellow players, all coaches and all umpires - at no time is a player or parent allowed to address an umpire during a game.

10) All players are expected to have a ton of  fun, laugh alot, make new friends, make your parents proud and become a better baseball player through out this 2010 season.
